​Criminal background checks will be conducted for all Basic-EMT and Paramedic courses
All courses meet from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. unless noted and include two 30-min meal periods.

EMS-201 EMT–Basic - 232 hours
EMS-205 RN to EMT-Basic - 118 hours

This is the minimum level of licensure in Michigan to be eligible work on an ambulance. This program exceeds the US DOT’s EMT-Basic National Standard Curriculum and is approved by the MDCH. 

This course will prepare students to provide basic life support (BLS) to sick/injured patients. Subjects include patient assessment, basic airway procedures (including Combitube), BLS for Healthcare Providers (EMS-090) treatment of patients in shock, spinal immobilization, patient privacy (HIPAA) etc. This course is designed to prepare students for advancement to paramedic level licensure. 

Students enrolled in this course are required to complete 60 hours of clinical experience (36 hrs ambulance, 24 hrs emergency room, RNs with documented ER time may substitute ER for additonal ambulance clinicals). Students are required to obtain immunizations as required in accordance with OSHA regulations or proof of their prior administration.

Successful completion of this course will certify students to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) examination EMT-B.

Prerequisite – Current AHA BLS for HCP card, or ARC Professional Rescuer. (availbale on the first day of EMT-Basic course for additional fee)

EMS-401 Paramedic - 996 hours (ACLS, PALS, GEMS, and PEPP included with EMS-401 only
No other school includes all of the extra certification courses listed above with their course!  
EMS-405 RN to Paramedic - 390 hours (ACLS included)

This course is an intensive program. It further builds on the knowledge attained in the other EMS courses (EMS-201, EMS-205, or EMS-301) with an even greater emphasis on pathophysiology of the human body. Students will gain the necessary skills to analyze a patient’s signs & symptoms and determine an appropriate course of treatment. Paramedics are able to perform (in addition to those skill learned in EMT-B) Intravenous access, endotracheal intubation, cardiac monitoring and electrical therapy, medication administration, plural decompression, emergency airway access (cricothyrotomy), etc.

This is becoming a minimum requirement to qualify for entry-level position as a firefighter. Other areas of potential employment are hospitals, private ambulance companies, nursing homes, etc.

Students enrolled in this course are required to complete an average of 600 hours of clinical experience (ambulance/emergency room). Students are required to obtain immunizations as required in accordance with OSHA regulations or proof of their prior administration.

Successful completion of this course will certify students to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) examination EMT-P.

Prerequisite – Successfully completed an MDCH approved Emergency Medical Technician – Basic program (EMS-201, EMS-205, EMS-205). Possess a current AHA BLS for HCP card, or ARC Professional Rescuer valid through the end of the course.  Complete the H.O.B.E.T. test (call to schedule appointment to take the H.O.B.E.T. test PRIOR to the first day of class.

EMS-401 Hours – Total 996 in the following areas; 600 clinical, 40 A&P, 40 preparatory, 42 airway, 40 patient assessment, 50 trauma, 70 medical, 34 special considerations, 30 assessment based patient management, 20 operations, 30 testing.
EMS-405 Hours - Total 100 classroom hours plus 40 hours clinical experiance and 250 hr externship (24 ALS ambulance AND 16 ER hours (RNs with documented ER time may substitute ER for additional ALS ambulance clinicals)
